200 Series

The 200 Series is Sonic's 3-flute solid carbide end mill for aluminum, copper, and plastics. Three flutes give you more cutting edges than a 2-flute and still leave the chip room aluminum needs. Sonic polishes the flutes before coating to limit built-up edge. Available in square end* and in corner-radius sizes R0.010"–0.125" (inch). For chipbreakers, see the 200C.

Sonic offers the 200 in TiB2. TiB2 has a low affinity for aluminum, so less material builds up on the edge. Sonic grinds every shank to h6 for precision holders and leaves a ground finish, not a polished one, so the shank resists slipping. Every tool is engraved with its lot number for traceability.

*Sonic's square end mills carry a small R0.004"–0.008" (0.1–0.2 mm) radius that protects the corner from chipping.
