170 Series

The 170 Series is Sonic's 7-flute solid carbide end mill for steel, iron, titanium, and nickel alloys.

Seven flutes produce very low chip load per tooth at high table feed rates. This is the geometry for finishing passes where feed rate must stay elevated for cycle time but surface finish requirements are tight. Seven-flute geometry is not for slotting or deep pocketing. It is for finish passes at controlled engagement where light chip load across seven edges produces consistent surface finish.
