100R Series

The 100R Series is Sonic's 4-flute rougher end mill with a corner chamfer, for steel, iron, titanium, and nickel alloys. Rougher geometry segments the chip, reducing load per cutting segment and the vibration heavy roughing produces in harder materials. Lower cutting forces allow more aggressive radial and axial engagement without the chatter that limits standard geometry in full-depth roughing. Compared with a plain flute, the knurled edge is shaped for a higher feed rate with less recutting.

The corner is a small chamfer (0.004"–0.008", 0.1–0.2 mm), not a radius. For a chipbreaker that still leaves a good wall finish, see the 100C.

Sonic offers the 100R in TiAlSiN for hardened steels, nickel alloys, and titanium alloys. Sonic grinds every shank to h6 for precision holders and leaves a ground finish, not a polished one, so the shank resists slipping. Every tool is engraved with its lot number for traceability.
