240 Series

The 240 Series is Sonic's 2-flute solid carbide end mill for aluminum high speed machining. Two flutes leave deep chip room for the spindle speeds and feed rates of high-speed aluminum work. Sonic designed the 240 for trochoidal and other high-efficiency toolpaths that hold a light radial engagement and a steady spindle load. The neck is ground just under the cutting diameter, so the tool can reach below its length of cut.

Every 240 is a square end mill with a small R0.004" (0.1 mm) radius to protect the corner.

Sonic offers the 240 in TiB2. TiB2 has a low affinity for aluminum, so less material builds up on the edge. Sonic grinds every shank to h6 for precision holders and leaves a ground finish, not a polished one, so the shank resists slipping. Every tool is engraved with its lot number for traceability.
