Tool 100Ri250A
Small diameter roughers snap when you push them. The carbide can handle the cut, but heat buildup and chip packing kill tools before they should fail. The 100Ri250A runs a quarter-inch cutting diameter with TiAlSiN coating. That coating acts as a thermal barrier, keeping cutting edge temperatures down while the aluminum content maintains a sharp edge longer than standard TiN.
- Four flutes with chipbreaker geometry fragment chips before they pack in the narrow flute valleys.
- The 0.006" chamfer strengthens the cutting edge at this diameter, reducing the microchipping that typically shortens tool life in interrupted cuts.
- This combination lets you run higher surface speeds in steel, iron, titanium, and nickel alloys without the premature failures common in smaller roughers.
- You'll still need a finisher for the final pass.
- This tool removes material, not surface roughness.
