  • TiAlSiN coating handles the thermal load that comes with interrupted cuts in steel and iron.
  • The aluminum content forms a protective oxide layer at cutting temperatures, while the silicon component maintains hardness as heat increases.
  • Four flutes spread the thermal cycling across more cutting edges, preventing any single edge from absorbing excessive heat during entry and exit.
  • The 0.03" corner radius strengthens the cutting edge at the most vulnerable point.
  • Sharp corners concentrate stress and heat, leading to premature chipping in harder steels and titanium alloys.
  • A controlled radius distributes those forces over a larger area while maintaining acceptable surface finish in profiling operations.
