Large diameter cuts in hardened steels generate heat faster than most tooling can shed it. The 110m030LFA handles this with three flutes instead of four, trading some surface finish speed for thermal stability that matters more when you're moving serious material.
- At 3" cutting diameter with R0.1" corner radius, this end mill distributes cutting forces across a stronger edge geometry.
- The slight radius prevents the sharp corner chipping that kills tools in interrupted cuts while maintaining the crisp edges needed for dimensional work.
- TiAlSiN coating adds oxidation resistance at the elevated temperatures these large cuts generate, particularly in steel and nickel alloys where heat buildup is unavoidable.
- The extra chip evacuation space between flutes becomes critical when you're clearing the volume a 3" tool removes per revolution.
