110 Series

Tool 110m160LA

The 110m160LA is a 16mm 3-flute end mill from the 110 Series, for slotting and profiling in steel, iron, titanium and nickel alloys. The L in the part number means a longer cut: 48mm length of cut (3x diameter), for taller walls and deeper passes.

Three flutes leave more chip room than a 4-flute and more edges than a 2-flute, and Sonic designs the flutes to clear chips in slotting.
In titanium and nickel alloys, that extra chip room lowers the heat load on each pass.
The end is center cutting, so you can ramp and plunge.
A 0.2mm corner radius holds up better than a sharp corner and leaves a 0.2mm fillet where the wall meets the floor.
The TiAlSiN coating is built for heat: it holds up to 1000°C and its low-friction surface cuts down wear.
