220 Series

Tool 220i125LFC

The 220i125LFC is a 1/8" 2-flute ball nose from the 220 Series, for contoured surfaces and 3D toolpaths in aluminum. The F in the part number means a reduced neck behind the flutes, so you reach 0.875" from the tip, deeper than its 0.375" length of cut.

On contoured surfaces and radius features, the ball leaves a small scallop you size with your stepover, where a flat end mill leaves steps.
Two flutes give you the chip clearance aluminum finishing needs on contour passes, where depth and direction keep changing.
The ball radius is 0.0625", and Sonic grinds its profile to a lineform accuracy of 0.0002".
The end is center cutting, and Sonic shapes the center to reduce marking on the part.
You clamp a 1/4" shank, stiffer than a 1/8" one, and get the reach from the neck.
TiB2 resists aluminum sticking to the edge, so you can run higher speeds and feeds than with an uncoated tool.
