Large diameter ball nose operations in aluminum create heat management challenges. The extended cutting zone and increased surface contact generate more friction, while aluminum's thermal conductivity wants to pull heat into the workpiece rather than the chip.

The 220m200C is a 20" diameter 2-flute solid carbide ball nose end mill for contouring and profiling in aluminum, copper, and plastics.
The TiB₂ coating provides a low-friction surface that reduces aluminum adhesion and helps manage the thermal load during extended cuts.
Two flutes maintain maximum chip clearance even at this diameter, preventing chip packing in the curved cutting zone where evacuation becomes critical.
The coating's hardness also extends tool life when working through varying engagement conditions typical in 3D profiling operations.
