Tight quarters don't allow much room for tool deflection. The 931i1618C handles precision dovetail work in confined spaces with a 0.25" cutting diameter and reduced 0.1378" neck that provides clearance while maintaining rigidity for steel and aluminum applications.
- The 45-degree included angle cuts standard dovetail profiles for workholding and fixturing.
- The R0.01" corner radius eliminates sharp internal corners that create stress risers in the finished part.
- Critical when the dovetail will see repeated clamping loads.
- TiB₂ coating extends tool life in steel by reducing built-up edge formation and providing thermal barrier protection during interrupted cuts.
- The coating's low friction coefficient also improves chip evacuation in aluminum, where galling can be problematic.
- Two flutes balance surface finish with chip clearance in slotting operations.
