Tool 931i2418B

The 931i2418B is a 3/8", 45° dovetail cutter from the 930 Series, for dovetail slots and angled undercuts in steel. This version has 3 flutes and a 0.010" corner radius.

The angle comes from the cutter's geometry, so you don't need a calculated toolpath to produce it. Rough the slot with an end mill first, then cut the angled walls with this cutter.
The 45° is the included angle across both flanks, so each wall it cuts sits at 67.5° to the floor, measured inside the slot.
If your print gives the wall-to-floor angle, order 180° minus twice that angle: a 45° dovetail needs the 90° cutter. If it gives the angle between the walls, order that number.
The 0.010" corner radius leaves a 0.010" fillet where the wall meets the floor.
For sharp corners, the 930i2418B is the same diameter and angle.
The head tapers down to a 0.1969" neck, the narrowest point on the tool.
You clamp a 3/8" shank that Sonic grinds to h6 for precision tool holders and leaves unpolished to help it resist slipping.
The AlTiN coating handles high temperatures and cuts down wear.
For aluminum, the 931i2418C is the same tool in TiB2.
