- The R0.01" corner radius at the dovetail root serves two functions.
- It reduces stress concentration in the finished workpiece, extending fatigue life in dynamic workholding applications.
- The radius also strengthens the cutting edge by eliminating the sharp corner that would otherwise chip under interrupted cuts.
- TiB₂ coating increases surface hardness to 3000 HV, extending tool life in steel applications where abrasive wear accelerates at the cutting edge.
- The three-flute configuration balances chip evacuation with surface finish in aluminum, steel, and most machinable metals.
