940 Series

Tool 942i1624C

The 942i1624C is a 90° engraver on a 1/4" shank, from the 940 Series, for part marking and fine line engraving in aluminum. It has a 0.024" tip, and the 90° is the included angle across both flanks.

The small tip cuts fine lines and tight inside corners that a larger end mill can't, like serial numbers and logos.
Line width is the 0.024" tip plus about 0.020" for every 0.010" of depth, since the 90° flanks open as you go deeper.
Sonic grinds the single flute with a flat-edged helical design that clears chips and keeps burrs down.
For the same line width, a 60° engraver cuts about 1.7x as deep as a 90°.
You clamp a 1/4" shank that Sonic grinds to h6 for precision tool holders and leaves unpolished to help it resist slipping.
TiB2 resists aluminum sticking to the edge, so you can run higher speeds and feeds than with an uncoated tool.
