Tool 970i1603B
Standard end mills don't cut side slots below a shoulder. The 970 Series does.
- A solid carbide keyseat cutter for keyways, side slots, and profile features where reach into the part geometry is the constraint.
- Six flutes at 0.25" cutting diameter provide smooth finishes in steel and iron applications while the 0.0469" cut width maintains tight slot tolerances.
- The 0.125" neck diameter becomes the stability constraint well before cutting forces overwhelm the tool geometry, so light radial passes work better than aggressive cuts.
- AlTiN coating extends tool life in ferrous materials by reducing built-up edge formation and heat generation at the cutting zone.
- The coating chemistry handles the higher temperatures that develop when cutting steel compared to uncoated carbide tools working in softer materials.
