Tool 970i3206B
Standard end mills don't cut side slots below a shoulder. The 970 Series does.
- A solid carbide keyseat cutter for keyways, side slots, and profile features where reach into the part geometry is the constraint.
- The 0.5" cutting diameter with 0.0938" cut width produces clean slot walls in steel and iron applications.
- Eight flutes provide fine surface finish while maintaining adequate chip evacuation at the narrow cutting width.
- The 0.25" neck diameter is the stability constraint here, not the cutting diameter, so conservative radial engagement keeps chatter out of the equation.
- AlTiN coating handles the heat buildup that comes with steel cutting, particularly in interrupted cuts where thermal cycling would otherwise wear the edge prematurely.
- The coating chemistry works well with ferrous materials where adhesion and crater wear are the primary failure modes.
